life through fresh eyes

As the sky went pink he turned and said to me

You know that you’re better than anybody

That was such a big statement so I turned back and said

Better than anybody you’ve ever met?

He said it was my mind, he could talk to me all day

My looks never once came into play

We sat on the sunflowers

Whilst the sun went down slowly for hours

He said the way I see things is magical and wonderful

I am brave and strong, but also vulnerable

As the sky turned orange he turned to me again

Please can you tell me, what is your name?

Amy I said, as the sky turned grey

He then turned around to me to say

Amy, you know the sky has been grey all of this time

I said let’s enjoy the last bit of sunshine

I picked him a flower but it stung his hand

He said it was a nettle, which I didn’t understand

I said what I’ve been seeing isn’t lies

You just need to look at life through fresh eyes

Bird song

She had the type of eyes which made the birds sing
Under the tree in the graveyard
Where a man told her that the world was cold but she felt warm
Next to where his wife sleep
He felt he could confide
Her eyes like balls of cotton
Which the birds used to make their nest
Soothing and comforting
Her eyes like a party
Inviting and enticing
Where all the guests felt welcome
The door left open
To a world where
The birds sang all day and night

Ode to Peggy

I would say you deserve the world,
but the world I cannot give,
As in this current state, the world is not a gift,
I would say you deserve everything,
But everything you will not accept,
as greed is far removed from you,
You would give me all you had left,
I would say you deserve the sun,
and I could take it out the sky,
For all the light we need in this world, you can just supply,
I would say you deserve happiness,
that is all I want for you,
For sadness has become your friend,
and that we must remove,
In fact the world deserves you,
for you make it a better place,
So effortlessly you reward the earth,
with your amazing grace.

N

the title of this poem is ‘N’

but does that make me entitled

to call this poem my own

or did i just write it

i feel deeply for this poem

but it isn’t my property

just because i love something

doesn’t mean it belongs to me

Because i love this poem

i am going to set it free

now this poem belongs to we

with this i hope we can all agree

that now I’ve set these words free

it’s clear for you all to see

this poem is deeply loved by me

but it is not my property

A life of freedom

I’ve found that this life isn’t for me
I have always envisioned myself to be free
Where love knows no boundaries
Hate was a myth
A work of fiction you’d read about – but never did exist
Your imagination could run a marathon
But never get tired
Modesty was an attribute to be admired
A mind and body in complete serenity
Working hand in hand to utilise every memory
We worshipped one another religiously
A new story book of imagery
A homemade remedy
Where religion wasn’t an entity
Animals had a safe haven
Humans were not so brazen
They roamed free amongst our bodies
We feed each other all the nutrition we need
Kindness and trust – ingested as a whole
Love throughout the mind, body and soul
Eyes overloaded with green
Nature was all that was seen
Flowers growing from every corner of the planet
Wildlife thriving as no one would damage it
A life left untouched
But never lonely – not once in our clutch
Where we lived as one
Our creator was the sun
We were never to be divided
Forever in the light we resided

Til’ we meet again

One leaves this world without the other

Oh how cruel life can be

Because by my side I wanted you

For the rest of eternity

Life went so fast

The pace of a racing car

That flew down the highway

Taking you so far

The love radiating around me

No longer I can feel

The presence of you beside me

That is now not so real

I will love you forever

But now no way to show

The need to feel your touch once more

Will only make my love grow

One day we will meet

With the clouds under our feet

I’ll touch your outstretched hand

And strong again our love will stand

Those nights I spent alone all now worth while

For so long I have yearned to see that smile

To Heaven on Thistlecrack

The clock reached 9am and it was time to go,

where that is, I do not know,

an ice cream on the beach with a chocolate flake,

as the tide rolls in

a beautiful painting this would make,

maybe a garden with a towering oak,

beside that a still pond – a frog will croak,

a sunflower field – being surrounded by yellow,

a roaring bonfire – to toast a marshmallow,

a setting of beauty – the fall of autumnal leaves,

a vision of wonderland – to how I perceive,

the taste of a crunchy apple or a sugar sweet pear,

wherever it is I may go,

Thistlecrack take me there.

At One With Nature

They say I’m grounded but what they can’t see,
Are the plants that have wrapped themselves around me,
Amongst the soil my feet lay bare,
Whilst of my body, nature takes care,
The lilies wrap around my lungs,
Take a deep breath in and here it comes,
The honeysuckle wraps around my heart,
Securing any holes that have been torn apart,
The sage wraps around my spine,
A refreshing touch, with my nerves they intertwine,
With all these components I am surrounded,
That is the key to staying grounded,
The rhubarb grows between my rib cage,
A little bit of sharpness to compliment the sage,
A recipe book created by yours truly,
Inspired by the components of my body,
The iris grows behind my eye,
Deep violet petals disperse when I cry,
The hollyhocks hold my hands,
The ferns feel my feet,
Without these keeping me grounded, I’d be incomplete,
With all these components I am surrounded,
These are the things that keep me grounded,
The secret to becoming your own creator,
Is to be at one with nature.
